    Description

The following item is an original re-loadable
    Metal
chamber for the Agar/Union Repeating gun. Also known as the "Coffee Mill" due to the hopper device on top of the gun where the cartridges were loaded, the Agar gun was very similar to the Gatling Gun and was one of the first machine gun style guns used in the war. President Lincoln was very impressed with the Agar and ordered ten for The Union Army. Unfortunately the accuracy of the gun was only about 40% and the gun was relegated to Pontoon usage. There are only four Agar Gun known to exist and are all in museums. The
    metal
chambers are extremely rare and are mostly found in dug condition. Non-dug cartridges are about non-existent. This non-dug example is museum quality. This one would be very difficult to upgrade. The cartridge measures 2 7/8 inches long and 15/16's in diameter. Comes in this wood case for display. Note: Clasp on box is gone) This cartridge will ship free anywhere in the Continental US via Priority Mail.
