    Description

Offered from an estate collection is this stunning old 1970's skateboard from the Dogtown and Z-Boys era with a beautiful laminated wood inlay bullet-shaped deck, very nice original Newporter Stoker wheels and Super Surfer Trucks. There is no brand marking on the 22 5/8"-long deck, so I am unsure if it is Newporter, Hobie, etc, or a custom deck. Condition is very good to excellent, with some wear to the tail end deck top, a tiny hole about 4 inches from the rear end, and assorted minor nicks and wear. Bottom shows that the rear trucks were moved back at some point. See photos! The original owner had glued some ugly sandpaper strips to the deck for a better grip. I removed those, lightly sanded off the glue residue and hit it with some natural tone Danish oil. Looks like black walnut, mahogany and maple inlay in a gorgeous curving pattern. Awesome now, but a true restoration could take it to another level if so desired. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Updated info: Wanted to share that I'm not a vintage skateboard expert, but an observant collector said this terrific board likely dates to 1968-73 based on the bb style bearings and other tells. Says its surfer style likely pre-dates the Dogtown and Z-Boys era, and reports that's a good thing. Thanks for your interest!
